Store it upright. A cart on its side leaks past the seal and floods the airway, which is the most common reason a new cart pulls badly out of the box. Keep it out of a hot car, because heat thins the oil and thin oil does the same thing faster.
Room temperature, out of direct sun, no fridge. Cold oil clogs, and the usual fix is running the coil hot to clear it, which costs you flavor for the rest of the tank.
Draw gently and at the lowest setting that works. A cart you are only going to own once is not one to scorch on the first session.
