This page exists because Kiva is one of the better-known edible names in California and because dispensary stock changes constantly. If it returns to our shelf it will appear on the live menu, which reads from our register rather than a third-party directory.
Worth knowing while you are here: Camino, which we do stock, comes from the same house. If Kiva is what you came for, that is the closest thing on our shelf and it is not a distant substitute.
Chocolate is the hardest format in edibles to do well, and that is where the money goes in this category.
Getting cannabis oil evenly distributed through chocolate, without the fat separating and without a plant taste coming through, is a real manufacturing problem. Uneven distribution is the classic edible failure, where one square from a bar hits differently from the next, and with chocolate it is harder to avoid than with a poured gummy.
Mints and chocolate also carry a specific practical issue that gummies do not: they melt. A chocolate edible that has melted and reset has not lost its potency, but the even distribution you paid for may not have survived the trip.
Whatever brand you end up buying, that is the honest thing to know about chocolate edibles generally. It is a better format for flavor and a worse one for heat.

No current Kiva products at Evergreen. Strain names rarely apply in this category anyway; the variables are format, dose per piece and cannabinoid ratio.

Read the milligrams per piece before you read the flavor. Then take half of that if you are unfamiliar with the product, and cut it before you eat it rather than deciding halfway.
Wait two full hours before taking any more. Edibles are slow and variable, and redosing at ninety minutes is the single most common way this category goes wrong. It is almost never the product.
Check the pack for total milligrams, milligrams per piece and the licensed manufacturer. California requires all three, and a package missing any of them did not come through a legal channel.
With chocolate specifically, buy from somewhere that has not left it in a hot delivery vehicle.
If you buy chocolate edibles anywhere, treat heat as the enemy.
Cool, dark and sealed, in the original child-resistant packaging. A cupboard is fine. A car in summer will melt them, and a melted and re-set chocolate no longer has the even distribution it was made with.
The packaging is not a formality. Cannabis chocolate looks exactly like chocolate, and mints look exactly like mints. Decanting them into a dish is how the worst stories in this category happen.
Refrigeration is a judgment call with chocolate. It prevents melting and can cause condensation and bloom. If you do refrigerate, seal it properly first.
Keep them away from anywhere someone could take one without reading the label.
You cannot buy Kiva from us today, but Camino is on our shelf and comes from the same house, so this is one of the few cases where the substitute is genuinely close rather than a consolation.
Ask the counter for it by name.
