Smoken Promises is a small flower label, and at Evergreen it is four eighths and nothing else.

Four cuts from one house at a single size is what a small grower’s shelf presence looks like. There is no 7g, no 14g, no pre-roll and no extract, so this is a label you buy an eighth of rather than commit to.
The naming runs playful rather than descriptive. Paint Pen and Whiplash tell you nothing about how they smoke, which is normal in this corner of the market and worth ignoring in favor of what is in the jar.
Small-batch flower is priced on scarcity and attention rather than on scale.
A house running four cuts is keeping four separate grows going instead of scaling one reliable strain. That is less efficient and it is the reason small labels cost what they do. Whether the result is better than a larger grower’s flower is a question the jar answers, not the label.
Indoor growing is most of the underlying cost regardless of size: controlled light, temperature and humidity, which is what produces density and an aroma that survives packaging.
The honest limitation is consistency across time. A small grower’s third harvest of a cut can differ from its first in a way a large operation’s would not. That is the trade you make for small-batch, and it cuts both ways. Ask what landed most recently rather than assuming the jar you liked last month is the same one.

Because there is no smaller format, there is no cheap way to sample before buying an eighth. If you want a brand that lets you test a cut in a pre-roll first, Wizard Trees rolls from the same flower it jars on our shelf.
If you want to buy a cut you like in quantity, this is not the label for it. CAM runs 7g and 14g, West Coast Cure goes to 28g, and Preferred Gardens lets you move from a 3.5g to a 14g on the same strain.

With four unfamiliar names and no descriptions worth trusting, buy with your eyes and your nose.
Ask to see the jars. Good indoor flower looks frosted rather than dull and the bud springs back rather than crumbling. Comparing two of these side by side at the counter is genuinely useful and any decent shop will let you.
Ask what each one actually smells like. That is free information and more reliable than a name like Paint Pen.
Ask for the packaged-on date. On a small label this matters more than usual, because a jar from a small grower can sit longer between harvests.
Read the panel last. Two jars at the same THC figure can smoke nothing alike, which is why it is the final check rather than the first.
Flower is the most perishable thing you can buy here.
Keep it in the glass it came in, sealed, dark and at room temperature. A cupboard beats a windowsill comfortably. Every opening swaps the air inside the jar, so open it less and for less time.
No fridge, no freezer. Condensation is the quickest route from good flower to a mold risk, and frozen trichomes break off the bud as soon as you handle it.
A humidity pack at around 62% RH costs a couple of dollars and keeps an eighth from drying brittle across the weeks you own it.
Grind lightly, and only what you are about to smoke.
